Welcome to Bassari Country! This hilly region straddles Senegal and Guinea.
On the Senegalese side, Bassari Country is almost entirely within the territory of Niokolo-Koba National Park.
On the Guinean side, some villages are only accessible on foot or by two-wheeled vehicle. This isolation partly explains the strong preservation of traditions among the Bassari people.
